What Is Weight Counselling?

How does counselling help you lose weight?

Dr Bruce’s aim is to work with you and get to the bottom of your weight-related issues, which may span from your childhood, adolescence, or later life. Confronting these problems in a safe, informed environment, has proven extremely beneficial to those looking to overcome the psychological components of the things which are contributing to weight gain, or struggle with weight loss.

It is extremely common for personal traumas to impact our weight and relationship with ourselves and food. If you feel as though this is the case for you, then Weight Counselling may be the best option to support your weight loss alongside a gastric balloon or bariatric surgery.

What happens during weight loss counselling sessions?

Taking advantage of his vast professional experience, Dr Bruce will be able to tailor the sessions to you, making sure that you get the most out of them. These sessions will be conducted virtually and arranged with you in terms of time and convenience. Dr Bruce specialises in weight and eating-related conditions, including eating disorders and emotional eating, as well as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

He holds a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (D. Psych), from Glasgow Caledonian University.

He will help you achieve realistic weight loss goals and discuss how you can monitor food intake to reach a healthy weight in a way that doesn’t involve very low calorie diets. Tackling the issues that led to weight gain while you’re undergoing rapid weight loss assisted by a gastric balloon or weight loss surgery will help ensure you don’t gain weight back at a later date.
