Gastric Balloon Weight Loss Programme
The Obera 365 is a 12 month gastric balloon available in the UK and globally. With an estimated 400,000 placements over the last 20+ years, the Orbera is a tried and trusted weight loss balloon. If desired, a patient may have the balloon removed at any point before then. The Orbera 365 does require an endoscopy and light sedation to place, meaning you will be required in the clinic for a few hours post-placement for observation. Allure patients can expect an average weight loss of around 10 – 18% of their total body weight.
Alternatively, the 6 month BiB gastric balloon is available. This balloon remains in your body for a shorter period, but sometimes patients find that that is all they need to notice a difference in their weight and make real lifestyle changes to sustain long term weight loss.
Whatever you choose, our programmes are accompanied by a series of 1 – 1 dietetic sessions, during which you will be provided with the information to properly work with the balloon regarding your dietary choices. In this respect, you should leave the programme with enough information for long-term maintenance of weight loss in order to sustain your goals. To qualify for a gastric balloon procedure, patients must have a body mass index (BMI) of at least 30.
