Why Book Your Gastric Balloon in Newport?

Our Gastric Balloon Clinic in Newport, South Wales, is extremely popular and for good reason. Lead by Dr Nimal Balaratnam, this is one of 12 independently registered Allure clinics across England and Wales. From this clinic we are able to help those struggling with weight loss to regain control through our gastric balloon placements and programmes. Patients can typically expect to lose between 10 – 18% of their total body weight on average, depending on balloon. Gastric balloons should not be mistaken with bariatric surgery, such as the gastric sleeve or gastric bypass.

Friendly and approachable, Dr Nimal Balaratnam will assess you during consultation, place your balloon, and be there for removal in Newport if applicable.

Your Gastric Balloon Options

Weight loss can often feel as though it is an uphill battle. Failed diets, forgotten exercise routines, and lack of time can take chunks out of our ability to lose weight and our morale. Gastric balloons are a great way to take the bite out of weight loss, suppressing production of the hunger hormone known as ghrelin. We offer two types of gastric balloon at Allure Weightloss, The Orbera 365 and the Allurion Balloon. Each balloon is placed temporarily for 12 or 4 months respectively.

The Orbera 365

12 Month Balloon

FDA Approved

Up to 12 Months in Situ, Non-Surgical Endoscopic Placement and Removal, Nurse Aftercare, Dietitian Support. Minimum BMI of 30 Required.

Allurion Balloon

Four Month Balloon

Famously Swallowable

Around 16 Weeks in Situ, Non-Surgical Placement, Designed to Deflate and Pass Naturally, Nurse Aftercare, Dietitian Support. Minimum BMI of 27 Required.

Thinking About Surgery?

If you are looking for a longer-term option to help combat obesity, bariatric surgery could be for you. Eligibility criteria is, of course, different, and you would need to have a BMI of at least 35 to qualify for surgery with Allure. We hold our surgeries across three specialist centres in the UK, each hand selected for its equipment and team. These clinics are led by Consultant Surgeons at the top of their field. Weight loss surgery, whilst considered a major surgery, is very safe, and patients can expect to lose around 70% of their excess weight on average.

Aftercare

Don’t make aftercare an afterthought. We have found that patients that attend their scheduled meetings tend to perform better than those that don’t. As such, we provide nurse and dietetic care to all gastric balloon and surgery patients to ensure their recovery and progress is optimised. Should you have any questions regarding how aftercare works, please get in touch by calling 0345 512 0094 now.
