Dr. Nimal Balaratnam is a Consultant Gastroenterologist. He has over two decades of experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He places BiB, and Orbera 365 gastric balloons at our Newport facility.
Dr Balaratnam qualified from Nottingham University 1991. He then joined the Formerly Specialist Registrar the Welsh Deanery 1995.
Dr Nimal Balaratnam undertook further research and endoscopy training Swansea University 1999, and was then appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Royal Gwent Hospital 2003. Since then, Dr Bimalaratnam has become well known for pioneering and leading of the Capsule Endoscopy service.
