The Gastric Sleeve
Patients must have a BMI of at least 35, or 30 + with two or more comorbidities. During the procedure our surgeon removes up to 80% of the stomach, with an outcome of patients expecting a 70% reduction in excess body weight over a 2 year period. The decision to get a gastric sleeve must be taken seriously, and we provide patients with all the relevant information so that they may make the best decision for themselves.
The surgery itself can take up to 4 hours. Full recovery can be expected between 6 and 8 weeks, although individuals may only need 1 – 2 weeks off work depending on their profession.
