The Orbera 365 requires an endoscopy at placement and removal. The patient will be provided a light sedation for comfort. It accomplishes this by occupying 60% of the stomach, suppressing production of the hunger hormone, ghrelin, as well as delaying gastric emptying. The Allurion Gastric Balloon
The Allurion Balloon is famously swallowable and CE approved. Coming in the form of a capsule, a patient will be encouraged to swallow the device in a 20 – 30 minute procedure with one of our GMC registered consultants. Once in the stomach the patient will have an x-ray, and then the device will be inflated. Another x-ray will confirm that the process has been properly completed and the catheter will be removed. The patient will then be free to go and begin their journey. At roughly 16 weeks the gastric balloon will deflate and pass naturally. Average weight loss is between 10 and 15% with the Allurion Balloon.
