Types of Gastric Balloons
Allure Weightloss are providers of two distinct gastric balloons: the Allurion Balloon and the Orbera 365. The balloons differ largely in the way in which they are placed, with the former coming in the form of a swallowable capsule and the latter being placed endoscopically and requiring a light sedation. Moreover, the Allurion Balloon is designed to be in situ for around 4 months, at which point it is designed to deflate and pass naturally. The Orbera can be in position for a maximum of 12 months, and needs to be removed with an endoscopy. Weight loss expectations are between 10 -15% and 10 – 18% respectively.
