What is an Allurion Gastric Balloon?
The Allurion Balloon is famously swallowable, allowing patients that would rather not undergo an endoscopy a chance to utilise a gastric balloon placement in order to lose weight. After a quick 20 – 30 minute procedure, which involves a swallowable capsule, a glass of water, and a couple of x-rays, you will be free to go. This gastric balloon enables patients to lose between 10 and 15% of their total body weight (on average). This weight loss is achieved by the balloon creating a feeling of satiation. That is, the balloon itself will occupy around 60% of the stomach, delay gastric emptying, and suppress the production of the hunger hormone (ghrelin). Thus you are made to feel fuller sooner and for longer.
All gastric balloon placements with Allure Weightloss are completed by our celebrated aftercare programme. This includes nurse care and 1 – 1 dietetic support with a HCPC registered dietitian. Mr Anupam Dixit is an experienced Consultant surgeon. He trained in India, London, and Surrey, before undertaking specialised training in Homerton Hospital in London as well as in Brugge, Belgium. With expertise in advanced laparoscopic surgery, Mr Dixit has a particular interest in the treatment of hernias, gallstone disease, gastro-oesophageal disease, and obesity.
