Mr Michael Nutt

Mr Michael Nutt is a Consultant General Surgeon with a special interest in `keyhole` (laparoscopic) surgery and weight loss surgery.

Mr Michael Nutt qualified from Nottingham University Medical School 1990 and was trained on the All Wales Specialist Registrar Rotation and the Bristol Royal Infirmary Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery Unit.

He was appointed Consultant Surgeon West Wales Hospital 2002 and moved to the Royal Gwent Hospital Newport 2005. Mr Michael Nutt retired from NHS practice in 2020. He is trained in general surgery with a sub-speciality interest in upper gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery and see and treat private patients at St Joseph’s Hospital, Newport.

Mr Nutt’s particular interests are in the laparoscopic surgical treatment of gallstones, gastro-oesophageal reflux, obesity, inguinal, incisional and abdominal wall hernias and endoscopy – gastroscopy and colonoscopy.

Personal Profile

Mr Nutt is married and has two children. He is originally from Pontypool and continues to support the local rugby club. Interested in all sports particularly rugby, cricket and tennis. He likes jazz music and plays piano, bass guitar, alto saxophone and percussion and is very grateful to his neighbours for their tolerance and understanding.
