How do Allurion Balloons Work?
The Allurion Balloon is famously swallowable and requires a patient to have two x-rays in order to confirm placement in a 20 – 30 minute procedure, after which they will be free to leave. As mentioned, Allurion Balloon patients typically experience a ten to fifteen percent drop in their total body weight over the course of around 16 weeks. After that time the balloon is designed to deflate and pass naturally through the body, meaning you should only require one trip to one of our clinics.
How do Orbera 365’s Work?
The Orbera 365 is an endoscopic gastric balloon that is placed under a light sedation in a procedure that also takes around 20 – 30 minutes to complete. You will be kept under observation for 2 hours before being dismissed from the clinic and after which you will not be able to drive for 24 hours. The most significant difference between the Allurion and Orbera is that the latter is FDA approved to stay in the stomach for up to 12 months, making it the most flexible option as patients can arrange to have it removed at any point prior at no extra charge. Orbera 365 patients can expect a total body weight loss of between 10 and 18% on average.
