What is the Allurion Balloon?

The Allurion Balloon is commonly referred to as the swallowable gastric balloon pill. This is because of the way the balloon is placed, which differs significantly from the Orbera 365. The Balloon is placed in around 20 minutes, without the need for endoscopy or sedation, after which you will be free to go home. The Allurion Balloon is also designed to pass naturally. With this gastric balloon placed, a patient can expect to lose between 10 – 15% of their total body weight on average. Patients will be expected to adhere to an overall programme, which includes bespoke aftercare from our excellent Dietitian and Nurse. The Dietitian will help work with you in order to create new habits and lifestyle changes that would encourage long-term success should they be adopted. The Allurion Balloon, like all gastric balloons, is a weight loss tool that needs to be used correctly.
