No matter if you’re undergoing a gastric balloon procedure or a bariatric surgery, we wouldn’t be Allure Weightloss if we didn’t support you with recognised dietitian care. As part of our unique aftercare programme, our dietitian will meet with you monthly to work to support weight loss during and after your procedure.
At Allure, our gastric balloon patients enjoy an average weight loss of 10-18% (results vary depending on balloon and adherence to the overall Allure Weightloss Programme), which is down to a combination of the balloons making them feel less hungry and the dietitians helping them to change the way in which they eat. As CQC registered providers, we believe it is our strict dedication to your health and wellbeing that makes us stand out from the crowd.
What is Dietetic Care?
A dietitian does far more for our patients than simply help them lose weight and lower their body mass index (BMI) – but what do they do?
Dietetic care refers to the process in which a registered dietitian will meet with you to assess and advise on your current diet, supporting and providing you with the necessary information to help change your eating habits for long-term weight loss maintenance and management.
Gastric balloons only do half the work when patients are trying to lose weight. The rest all comes down to the patient implementing habit and lifestyle changes while the weight loss balloon is in place. While patients may lose weight quickly while a gastric balloon is in place, when they have the gastric balloon removed they need to have the tools and knowledge to keep the weight off.
Similarly, when a patient has undergone weight loss surgery, in order to lose weight in a healthy way there are lifelong changes that will need to be made. Making these changes without support can be incredibly challenging. We have found that it is support, provided with understanding and wellbeing at heart, that results in the success we so often find with our patients at Allure. It is also the reason our programme is so highly regarded by GMC registered Consultants.
Following a weight loss procedure, patients may find that as they lose body weight that some obesity related health problems such as high blood pressure or sleep apnoea begin to reverse, but it is important that patients don’t stop making progress just because they are seeing results. Our weight loss team are on hand to guide patients with healthy diet advice and ensure that they continue to make progress.
Dietitian Meetings During Balloon Placement
Depending on the gastric balloon you elect to have placed, you will enjoy regular meetings with your personal dietitian from 6 to 12 months. These sessions will be conducted via zoom for your convenience. Our dietitians are HCPC registered and are handpicked for their dedication to excellence.
Your meetings will begin before your gastric balloon insertion and will continue until the deflated balloon is removed. You’ll be able to rest assured knowing that our dietitians are there to support you throughout your journey with Allure.
Additional Support
Should you feel as though you need it, we offer additional support in the form of weight counselling with Dr Mark Bruce. These sessions are designed to help individuals get to the bottom of their relationship with food. Should you think this would be beneficial to you, don’t hesitate to mention it when getting in touch with our team. You will also have access to a bariatric nurse, as standard when undergoing gastric balloon placement with us.
